Sri and Paya

Sri is a small meadow on a hilltop above Shogran at a distance of 6 kilometers with a small lake and an NWFP Forest Department's Rest House.

Paya is 3 kilometers from Sri. It is a vast lush green meadow with a few trees here and there and very small lake in the middle. From here, one can have a clear view of the 3885 meters Makra peak which is covered by green grass all the way to the top. It takes about 4 to 5 hours to reach Makra top from Paya and if you are looking at Makra from Paya, the climb to the top looks very easy and  therefore -- tempting. (In fact it is an easy climb, I was told by those who have been to the top).

There is a dirt road from Shogran to Siri and Paya. Tourists can either walk to Sri and Paya from Shogran in about 3 hours or can hire a jeep from Shogran and to go there.
